About Entwistle Mathematics

We are a specialised mathematics tutoring business based in Parramatta, specialising in providing a tailored and rigorous education experience to our students from Years 10 to Year 12.

Hugh has always been behind-the-scenes in the tutoring industry, helping build resources from the ground up (you might even recognise him from one of the 200+ hours of Matrix+ recordings). Hugh received the Excellence in Teaching Award for his university teaching and has also lectured in mathematics and statistics in Macquarie University's Actuarial Studies courses.

Having worked his way to the top of many well known tutoring centres and his experience in university tutoring and lecturing - Hugh understands the good and the bad about the tutoring industry, and has applied this understanding to his emerging business. Hugh is an award-winning mathematician with a wide host of accolades including:

- University Medal (Post-Graduate) for his Masters of Research Thesis,

- Frederick Chong Prize for 2nd Year and 3rd Year 1st in Mathematics,

- Professor Judyth Sachs Prize,

- Academic Merit Scholarship, 

- Australian Mathematical Science Institute Scholarship, 

- New Colombo Plan Scholarship

- DSTG Research Scholarship into AI and Decision Making

Hugh is also a published mathematician, with papers featuring in the MDPI Journal and MATRIX, whose research has attracted grants including the Defence Science Technology Group to conduct mathematical applications to defence.

 

In addition to his academic and teaching experience, Hugh has also worked as a statistical consultant at UNSW and at a specialist research consultancy where he used his specialisation in probability to model a brand new electricity contract that was released in NSW. Let's just say that Hugh really knows his stuff....

At Entwistle Mathematics, Hugh teaches the senior classes - bringing his specialist knowledge and real-world experience to his teaching. In parallel, Hugh is an avid question writer - writing exciting and thought-inducing questions to push and excite his students to discover new mathematics and to apply their knowledge to solve interesting and difficult exam-style problems. 

 

We believe in nurturing the mathematical abilities of our students (no matter their starting level) and to induce curiosity, creativity and advanced problem solving.
